Omega Men Support Sigmas

The 9th Annual African-American Male Image Awards Scholarship Banquet

November 7, 2003

The Brothers Of Epsilon Phi Chapter Of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc were glad to support the Tau Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in their efforts to illuminate the positive images in our community of Memphis TN. Epsilon did this by partornizing Tau Iota Sigma’s 9^th Annual African-American Male Image Awards Scholarship Banquet.

At the banquet the Sigma’s acknowledged positive role models of Memphis . The Honorees were:

A. Business - Self / Tucker Architects

B. Education - Jimmy Holland, Principle Sheffield High School

C. Religion – Dr. Rev. Reginald L. Porter, Sr.

D. Corporate Executive – Jim Lee, Finance Director, City Of Memphis

E. Community Service – Major Ray Hopkins, Commander Of Internal Service Bureau and

F. Arts – Otis Sanford, Managing Editor, Commercial Appeal

In theme with the banquet’s title, four scholarships were presented to graduating high school seniors based on academic achievement, and community involvement. The scholarship awardees were:

A. Kenneth M. Cummings, Sheffield High School

B. Joseph D. Doss, Melrose High School (4.5 gpa on 4.0 scale)

C. Lee B. Smith, Melrose High School (27 on the ACT) and

D. Earl A. Wynne, III

Among the Omega Men, with their wives, that were present were: Rodney A. Jeffery, Brothers Dr. Rev. James Netters, Reginald L. Porter, Jr. and Bobby Simmons.
